Japanese media reported yesterday (19th) that Chinese state-owned travel agencies have resumed offering group tour products to Japan. However, Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao discovered that the state-owned "CITS Travel" website urgently removed related products on the same day.
Nippon TV reported yesterday that NNN (Nippon News Network) interviews found that Chinese state-owned travel agencies will restart previously shelved group tours to Japan from mid-July. A 7-day, 6-night group tour itinerary to Tokyo and Osaka has begun recruiting travelers. In addition, many private travel agencies have also been organizing tours since May, and the trend of resuming travel to Japan is gradually expanding.
However, Lianhe Zaobao reported that according to the "CITS Travel" official website, a "Japanese Summer Style. Japan Panorama Double Freedom 6 Nights 7 Days East-Osaka" group tour itinerary has been removed.
"CITS Travel" belongs to the China Tourism Group, a state-owned enterprise directly managed by the central government in Beijing.
Since November 2025, after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi made remarks about "Taiwan contingency," the Chinese government instructed travel agencies to reduce the number of tourists to Japan to 60% of previous levels, effectively prohibiting group tours. (Editor: Liu Xianghua)
