Taiwan Beer Leopards point guard Kao Chin-wei attended the "Transforming Children's Futures, Let's Care Together" 2026 Charity Project hosted by Xiangbin Group today (20th), sharing his personal growth experience to call on society to provide more companionship and care for children. Xiangbin also announced that the scale of this year's charity will be expanded from about 1,500 children and adolescents annually to 4,000, hoping to become the best teammate on the children's journey to chase their dreams. #CNA Reporter Chiang Chao-lun reports# Xiangbin Group announced on the 20th the launch of the "Transforming Children's Futures, Let's Care Together" 2026 Charity Project. A total of 24 celebrities from politics, sports, and entertainment recorded videos in response, jointly calling on the public to "reject indifference, show care, and provide companionship," so that every act of kindness becomes an important force for children to transform their future. Kao Chin-wei was specially invited as the keynote speaker for the event. Having grown from a child receiving help to a professional star, Kao Chin-wei hopes to encourage more children to believe in the future through his own story and calls on society to become "assistants" on the children's growth journey. At the press conference, Kao Chin-wei was reunited with the caregiver who looked after him when he was young. Upon seeing him, the caregiver said, "You did it." This sentence deeply moved him. Kao Chin-wei: "(Original sound) I just met the caregiver who looked after me when I was young and we chatted. The first thing he said to me was, 'You did it.' Because I actually told them when I was young that if I had the ability, I wanted to give back to them. I feel that today's achievement is also thanks to the help of many people." Kao Chin-wei, who recently won the TPBL professional basketball league's annual MVP award, stated that every score on the court requires teammates' assists, and life is the same. Many children do not lack material possessions but need companionship, someone to listen, and opportunities to explore the world. He believes there are many ways to accompany children, not necessarily through money or material goods. Taking children to play games, participate in activities, or cultivate interests and learn skills can all change their lives. Regarding his journey from a recipient of aid to the professional stage, and recently appearing on the cover of elementary school's "Health and Physical Education" textbook, Kao Chin-wei admitted he never expected it to happen so quickly, but giving back to society has always been his wish. Kao Chin-wei: "(Original sound) I actually didn't expect to achieve such a goal so quickly. I think this is just the beginning, and there will be more feedback later on." Kao Chin-wei is currently recovering from a right foot injury. Doctors estimate he needs 6 to 8 weeks of rest, making him unable to represent Taiwan in the third stage of the World Cup Asian qualifiers in Korea. He stated that wearing the national team jersey has always been his dream. He will continue with treatment and training, and his return to the national team will depend on his recovery. Xiangbin pointed out that in previous years, they invited disadvantaged children and adolescents to share meals through summer gatherings, accompanying about 1,500 children annually. This year, in addition to continuing the meal gatherings, they will also add volunteer cooking in rural areas and a charity Christmas dinner, with the number of beneficiaries expected to increase to 4,000 children and adolescents throughout the year.
